A Warm Welcome to the New Location
Hello, Furbaby Pet Care community! I’m Jocelyn Davey-Hawreluik, CEO and owner of Furbaby Pet Care and a proud board member of the Saskatoon SPCA. I am thrilled to share the exciting news about the grand reopening of the Saskatoon SPCA at their new location, 2250 Hanselman Avenue. After being located on Clarence Avenue for nearly 30 years, this move marks a significant step forward in our mission to provide the best care for our furry friends.
A State-of-the-Art Facility
The new facility, boasting over 8,000 square feet of space, has been thoughtfully designed to enhance both animal and human experiences. With six thousand square feet dedicated to sheltering animals, we can now host up to 80 animals at full capacity. The rear intake door, multiple HVAC systems, and epoxy floors are just a few of the features that make everyday operations smoother and more efficient. We’re all celebrating the new home of the Saskatoon SPCA!
Enhancing Animal Care and Reducing Stress
Special attention has been given to reducing anxiety and stress for the animals. Our director of animal care, Amber Matthews, played a crucial role in the design process, ensuring that the facility meets or exceeds shelter standards. From reconfigured cat condos that don’t face each other to extra sound-dampening insulation, every detail has been considered for the well-being of our animals.
Expanding Services and Community Engagement
One of the most exciting aspects of the new location is the ability to introduce new community-based programs. We are planning to offer dog behavioural classes, a pet food bank, and educational seminars to support pet owners at every stage of their journey. Our goal is to become the central hub for all things related to your relationship with your pets.
Accessible and Convenient Location
Located in the airport industrial area along a bus route, the new location is much more accessible for staff, volunteers, and the public. The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited to see the SPCA bustling with activity.
Supporting the SPCA’s Mission
The new SPCA is fully self-funded, relying heavily on donations from corporate and individual donors. We are currently raising funds for a capital campaign with a goal of $1.6 million to cover the cost of renovations. Every donation helps us continue our mission of providing excellent care for our animals and supporting pet owners in Saskatoon.
